Winyah Bay Golf Club |
|
Located in historic Georgetown,
South Carolina, Winyah Bay Golf Club received a face lift in 1998. The original
nine opened in 1955 and is the fifth oldest golf course on the Grand Strand. As
the original nine was being redesigned, another nine holes were added to make
it one of the newest eighteen hole courses in the Myrtle Beach and Charleston
areas. Conveniently located just forty five minutes from Myrtle Beach and Mount
Pleasant, the golf course is an easy and historic drive as well as being a great
Golf destination. Winyah Bay is sure to become known as one of the most beautiful
courses on the Grand Strand. Arriving at the clubhouse, the golfer is met with
a seven mile view of Winyah Bay, off a 35 foot bluff. Contour
fairways wind through a plethora of massive oaks, tall pines and thousand year
old cypress trees, and eventually through gorgeous rice fields and marshes. While
on your trek around this course, you will notice two pleasant features. One is
the view of the bay form 14 of the 18 holes. The other is the absence of housing
on or around the golf course. Don't let all this beauty and a par 70 deceive your
golf game. With small undulating greens, fifty large sand traps, mixed with large
trees and wetlands and the fact that there is constant breeze off the bay, you
are set for a memorable four hours of golf. After your round, you can relax with
a cold beverage at the bar or on the patio which overlooks Winyah Bay. Come visit
our friendly staff and enjoy our affordable rates at Winyah Bay,where nature meets
golf. |
